re- mri scan

Have had results re MRI scan , shows lump in prostate. Have  been told to have a CT scan,. They say there is no sign of cancer outside the protaste, but the CT scan is to make sure . They have intimated at this stage a biopsy is not required. I assume this is due to my age 81 yrs old. Its a waiting game, I am hoping  CT scan shows all is ok. I wonder why I have a CT scan if nothing is shown  outside the prostate ?

  • Hello Graham-B

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I'm sure it was difficult news to receive but it sounds promising that all your tests to date have shown it's contained within the prostate.

It's not uncommon for people to have further scans after a diagnosis. The CT scan will give the Consultant further information and help them decide about the best way forward with monitoring and/or treatment.

If you'd like to chat with one of our team of nurses for some more information and support you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the CT scan and results and that they bring some reassurance.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks very much for your reassurance. I am having  the CT scan on 29th of June, so fingers crossed.
