I have just been told I will only have 5 days of radiotherapy after mylumpectomy
i had been told by the surgeon it would be for 3 weeks
Does anyone have any experience of having this reduced time?
i am a little concerned

Hi
I was told today that a recent trial showed that a 5 day treatment was as effective as the 3 week treatment . Following Covid restrictions this will now be the standard . Hope that helps and good luck
I had 5 days of radiotherapy, after my lumpectomy and the chemotherapy. Initially was worried, but they explained the dose is a similar to the 15 days but just delivered over a shorter time frame. All I could think was the 5 days were exhausting so thank goodness I didn’t have to go another 10 days!
They also gave me a gel to apply twice a day to stop any skin damage. The staff were brilliant and explained each step of the treatment.
All my treatment is over and it’s nice to be on the other side
So pleased to hear all your treatment is finished
thank you for sharing your experience
i will be glad to get out the other side in a couple of weeks
