Radiation sickness

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere :)

my partner has Leukemia & has radiotherapy every day , his body is aching up & down ( side effects of the treatment ) & is often sick after every meal he has

we've tried eliminating certain foods , smaller portions & eating slowly as recommended , he has anti sickness tablets every day & has recently started having injections to help his stomach digest some food but he is still vomiting

is there any help / advice / tricks anyone can let me know just so he can have a meal without vomiting it all up

TIA

  • Hi Kirsten2091,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about the issues your partner is having.

Unfortunately there's nothing I can really offer in terms of advice for this - the best thing is to speak to your partner's doctor, but if they have offered solutions already that haven't worked then I can understand this must be difficult.

If anyone here has any similar experience then hopefully they'll be along soon.

You may wish to give our nurses a call - if so you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi so sorry read about your situation, my husband is the one with cancer, and is having immunotherapy to try and slow down the cancer spread,  about 2 weeks ago he started saying the milk had gone off (it hadn't ) then the smell of cooking turned on him, wouldn't eat tried the vitadrinks from the gp but he would go sick as soon as he drunk it, he was given anti sicknesses tablets, and steroids and very slowly he started eating (not very healthy i be honest i didn't care as long as he was eating ) but a small banana split (we use to eat these when we were courting 32 years ago) this he ate 4/5 times a day then custard or rice pudding and drinking flat coke(full sugar) and thankfully he is now back eating  great, i know how its so hard trying to get them to eat and keep it down but small portions often every 2 hours and please talk to your cancer nurse or his specialist i am sure others will be repling soon, with better tips for you, take care of yourself easier said than done
