Question

Hey, I have an enlarged lymph nodes on both sides of my jaw. I've had them for 2 years and they have never changed and they are just below half an inch in size. I have started to get light headed when I raise my head too fast and I'm scared incase I might have Waldenström macroglobulinaemia since I have light heads and 2 raised lymph nodes. I've went to the doctor 2 years ago to get the node scanned and the results came back fine but I still don't have a cause for the lymph nodes being there. I've been told that my lymph nodes may be non cancerous since they haven't changed for over 2 years but could I still have Waldenström macroglobulinaemia with an unchanged lymph node for that amount of time?

  • Hello, I am really sorry to read about how worried you are.  Unfortunately here on Cancer Chat we won't be able to diagnose you or tell you how likely it is that this is something that needs treating.  As the lymph nodes are still raised and you have developed light headedness, it would be quite reasonable for you to go back to your doctor and get this checked out.  I wouldn't focus too much specifically on Waldenstrom Macroglobulinaemia, although this is a possibility, it is quite a rare condition and I think it is more likely to be something else.  Sometimes lymph nodes become enlarged and it's never clear why.  But do talk to your doctor again, only a doctor is going to be able to diagnose you.

I hope you get some answers soon

  • If I had Waldenstrom Macroglobulinaemia would the lymph node change tho? Because since my lymph nodes havent changed in over 2 years then how is it still possible for me to have Waldenstrom Macroglobulinaemia. If I had this disiese would my lymph nodes not change due to it?. I've heard online that if a Lyon node remains unchanged for a long period then it is not cancerous.  So how would it still be possible for me to have Waldenstrom Macroglobulinaemia with unchanged lymph node. I may be able to even just feel my lymph nodes due to be being very slim and I've read that's it's normal to be able to feel superficial lymph nodes when there not swollen and mine are just below half an inch. I am also only 17 Incase age matters. I also got the lymph nodes scanned 2 years ago and they appeared to be fine on the scan but I'm worried incase they have changed since that was so long ago. Although they still haven't changed since that scan and have remained the same size.

  • Hello Bradley

When I answered your post yesterday I hadn't noticed that our nurses had responded to many other posts about your lymph nodes.  We cannot help you with this issue.  The only person that can is your doctor. I would ask you not to post any further questions on Cancer Chat about your symptoms, we cannot diagnose you, the best thing to do is to speak to your doctor.  I realise that you must be very worried about this or you would not keep posting.  But we cannot help you with it.  Please do talk to your GP about your symptoms and about your health worries.

    Take care
