Puzzled

Hi all

Just before Christmas following a MRI scan my consultant informed me that I had a small meningioma on the top of my brain.Nothing really to worry about.  This followed months of having numbness in the face -weakness in my arms tingling fingers- unsteady walking and dreadful fatigue.

I am due to have a three month follow up shortly. My symptoms remain the same some days I get by other days I really struggle. My consultant tells me that the symptoms I'm experiencing have nothing to do with the meningioma?

Within a year I've gone from a very active 70 year old walking 5 miles a day always on the go !  to someone struggling to get through the day !!

Any thoughts welcome ??

  • Hi there ...

If I were you I'd ask him if it's not from that what is it ... and maybe ask for another scan to be sure .. those symptoms are not normal in an active person even at your age ... l think they look over us older ones ... so stick to your guns ... it's always better knowing ... and at least find out what is doing it ... fingers crossed.... Chrissie x

  • Hi, have you been checked for vitamin b12 deficiency. If not please ask to be checked. I was diagnosed with it in 2012 and my symptoms were very similar. It can cause a lot of problems if left untreated so do check.

  • Hi Chrissie

Following the consultation I wrote to the consultant asking him just that and he suggested my Dr cast the net wider!!  Totally agree with you re us older ones but I'm a persistent older one ! I will wait for my 2nd MRI then ask for a second opinion.

  • Thank you for your reply Lilyjo

As a vegetarian of some 40 years and almost vegan for the past 2 years I checked with my Dr he assured me that my B12 was fine nevertheless I have start take B12 tablets and introducing more into my diet !!!

  • That's good to know you have been checked. I too have been a vegetarian for over 40 years but in my case the problem is I don't absorb b12 from my food, or supplements, so I have to have injections every 8 weeks.

I hope you get some answers soon.
