Prostate young

hi everyone.

i am a 37 year old male waiting on my blood psa tomorrow, I have all the symptoms of advanced prostate cancer - bowls not working  constant uranating, sore back- bottom, headaches.ct came back clear can the cancer still have spread?

  • Hi Lip. Welcome to the forum.

I am not a doctor; however, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 56, which was nearly 10 years ago.

The symptoms you list are pretty vague and could apply to any number of diseases. However, a prostate infection is a possibility. Thirty-seven would be a very young age to get prostate cancer; it's not impossible but it's very unlikely.

Where did you get the idea that this might be prostate cancer?  Who suggested the PSA test? This is not a specific test for prostate cancer so having a raised PSA does not automatically mean cancer. For example, if you do have a prostate infection then you must expect your PSA to be higher than normal.

Please can you provide more details of your CT scan.  What area of the body was scanned? Was an injectable contrast medium used? Have you a copy of the actual report?

  • Hi Telemando

My gp had asked for a psa test.ct scan was abdomen and chest came back clear 2 weeks ago along with chest X-ray first bloods where all fine.

i have had my symptoms now for 4 weeks my stomach seems to be not functioning had severe bowl pain originally that then went to the back.found a lump lower spine 3 doctors had said lipoma but there’s mass around this area from the buttocks up.

    thanks for your response

  • Sorry not had report but had 2 gp go over and injectable contrast

  • Hi Lip

It looks like the CT scan didn't include a scan of the prostate so there's insufficient information to rule out prostate cancer - but that is still highly unlikely at your age. And you now know that the scanned area was clear, which is also reassuring.

Please let us know the PSA result when you get it.  With any luck it will be in normal range, but if it isn't then don't panic, because there are many things that can caused a raised PSA.

  • Hi bud how's things? Do you have an update on this?
