Prognosis Stage C CLL if treatment refused

Hi

im a concerned daughter looking to understand how my mums illness could now progress. After 12 years with CLL she's now being told she needs to start treatment, which I think she'll refuse. If she's reached Stage C then how does this progress from here? Fatigue, pain ?

  • Hello Norm69 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis and that she might refuse treatment. Before she takes such an important decision, perhaps it would be worth your mum discussing her options with her medical team and seeing whether there is any treatment she would consider going for. Your mum's specialist will also be able to tell you more about how things might progress from here if treatment was refused and also how treatment could be beneficial to her.

Information about Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) can be found on our website and I hope that it will answer of the questions you may have. Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call if there is anything you would like to ask them about CLL and the progression of the illness.

Wishing your mum the very best and that things get better for her and that she makes the best possible decision regarding her treatment options.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar place and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
