Post menopausal Bleeding ( I’m so sorry fr the long post)

Hi all, I'm really new to this and came across this by chance. I had some post menopausal bleeding over a week ago. I've been 2 years and 6 months since my last period. Unfortunately I didn't know the importance as I'm pretty unwell with other problems. So didn't want to drive Drs mad with yet something else. However when I googled it a week later I called Doc. Had urgent referral and had scan, now got to wait just over a week for results.
Does everyone get a letter asking them to meet with the gynaecology oncology team?
Also I suffer with Lichan Sclorosis and Vaginal Atrophy. At my last visit to see my Gynaecologist 15th Dec, I was told that I needed a biopsy as I had developed something that looked suspicious. The Gynaecologist took it but I've not heard back about the results yet. On one hand I suppose no news is good news, but this is doing terrible things for my sleep etc.

  • Hi Crystalruby,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read of your worries and everything that's going on at the moment. I know the waiting for information and results is never easy.

Re your question, I'm not too sure, but if anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

As you haven't yet heard about biopsy results then of course do make sure to ask about this at your upcoming appointment.

If you feel you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

I hope it's not too long for you to wait to find out more.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi I understand how it feels,  I had post menopausal(15years since it ended) bleeding on 5th Dec and been waiting, I just got the call from Gynae Consultant secretary to give me appt on Monday 11th.  I had an ultrasound, a Hysteroscopy, an int examination and then biopsy was taken cause he found something in the wall of uterus/womb.  He had to tell me all the info about it all as I didnt get letter or anything before.  I forgot to ask how long the wait for results is, as too much info to remember.  I really know how the waiting is affecting us.

I called sec on Tuesday as didnt sleep with all the worry and cause I had a 4 week wait to be seen.  She said if its urgent it will be about 4 weeks or more.  I still havent slept.

But I'm in Scotland so its different for you, I hope you hear very soon. All the best.

  • Oh you poor thing, I completely understand what you are going through.
I have my appointment now next Tuesday, but I actually called the secretary and asked if they had any cancellations to bare me in mind .
They did call me yesterday to say that there was a cancellation today, only my husband couldn't take the time off work to take me and because I am a wheelchair user I need his help. So I had to say that I would have to wait until next week. I was so upset. But there you go. It wasn't meant to be.
We just have to stay strong and hopefully the appointments will come around soon enough. Take care xxx

  • Thanks kindly for your relly, I can't walk far so use a scooter when its dry outside but also can't go out myself since my stroke and depend on hubby being well, he gave up work to be my Carer.  I think it can help us both by sharing on here. Theres always someone going through the same thing when you think your alone. Stay safe and take care.  Hope you get on well.

  • I had my scan on the 16th Dec, had a letter to go for camera sorry don't no the hospital name, they said I had polyps, went in Monday had them removed they said everything looked fine, they also fitted a coil because they said it would stop them coming back, Tuesday got a call to say biopsy from two weeks before was back and I have pre cancer cells so have been put on the urgent list for a hysterectomy  I'm 56. They said that they can't rule out other cancer so now I wait, its driving me mad but hope it will be over soon im post menopause by two years and had one bleed, nearly didn't have it checked but rang Dr and they said it had to be good job I did, fingers crossed for you,x
