Positive TF/FOB test, anxious now

Hi all

I’m a 38 year old busy mum of 4

6 months ago started noticing, blood in stools (sorry tmi) but it passed. But then I started suffering with weird bowel habits like, constipation or going 4/5 times a day, started to lose weight although I was trying to diet , I found it easy An noticed my appetite was smaller than before,

then I have had for 6 months now awful cramps, irregular period bleeding, back pains , pains in my side like a stitch it’s so painful but passes after 10 or so minutes, I have the past 4 weeks been feeling nauseous as well, as well as having an awful itch like in my sides and under my arms, I feel awful after I eat like I’m about to have diahrrea, but don’t, then ovary pains started couple weeks ago with also a stabbing pain in the underneath of my left shoulder blade. The cramps in my stomach I’m so used to but it’s  All so weird but so much happening at once, I decided I need to take myself to the doctor,

so I did and I was just asked to do a simple Test as a means of a start to investigating what’s happening with me, doctor called today said results were positive for TF and FOB I had no idea what this was but she explained was occult blood found in the sample and now I need to come see her early next week to get further tests. I haven’t been well for a long time and just got used to the constant cramping an pains and chalked it up to IBS...

i lost my mum 18 months ago she was 56 she had kidney and bowel cancer which spread to the lungs and liver and from diagnosed she only lasted 14 weeks. So naturally I’m anxious and as an x smoker (only quit last year) I’m so anxious but kind of prepared as well as I’m a head strong kind of person. I just have the worst nigliest feeling somethings up call it 6th sense, god I hope I’m wrong for once! I’m anything but a pessimist, I’m naturally upbeat and bubbly and Optimistic by nature and personality...

Has anyone else had a scare like this that started like mine with a positive fob test, and don’t refrain from being honest on your out come, I like to deal with things as they happen and don’t need my feelings spared I’m a very up front kind of person and can talk about most things lol it’s going to be a longggg week end, a glass of wine I think is now a must

thanks for reading

  • When I hit 50 I did the bowel screening and got a positive result. I had to repeat it and it was also positive. I then had to have a colonoscopy at the hospital and everything was clear. I can understand your anxiety if you have a family history of bowel cancer but your symptoms could be something else . Glad you are getting this checked out so it can be treated .
