Positive results?

Hey everyone.

I have just received a letter stating that my pathology results have needed to be pulled forward and I was curious to hear if anyone in this forum had received good results from this?

Please let me know

  • Hello MrsA,

I hope you will manage to chat to some of our members who have also had their results pulled forward and that they will be along soon to share their experience with you.

Keeping everything tightly crossed for you for good results.

If you have a chance, do come back here and let us know what you find out.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for replying.

I will indeed let you know once I find out myself tomorrow. My tongue is still healing following laser surgery and the terrible infection I ended up getting in the wound bed too - typical, but the waiting game is the worst as my heads thinking the worst (understandably) I have not heard of anyone's results being brought forward for good news - still living in hope though!

I will write again soon x

  • Best of luck for tomorrow MrsA. We will be thinking of you!

  • Hi Lucie.

    Quick update - ie Results.

Basically, I had a very very small cell carcinoma but following the C02 laser surgery I had done, this has now been removed. The consultant explained that the pathologist didn't feel comfortable by stating if it was definitely a cancer or not as I wanted to know this for my own sanity, it seems as though I was actually straddling the border? So for arguments sake - let's say carcinoma in-situ. Again though, this has been removed by the previous surgery.

The consultant was somewhat concerned as the initial biopsy showed dysplasia which was mild, however, the surgery showed dysplasia of being severe - apparently this is very rare indeed to change so quick in a matter of weeks.

The plan at present is for my tongue to heal, for me to be discussed at the MDT next week as there is an area to the front of the tongue where the cells were at the worst so the question is do they take this off as a precaution? And I will be having a CT scan arranged.

I am literally in shock, as I wanted to know categorically either cancer or not so I am upset I don't know either for certain, however, I am so happy that it's nothing major and that I have been very lucky to have noticed it and persevered until someone listened. Very lucky to have a brilliant dentist and surgical team here in the North East.

I will keep you up to date : )
