My CT picked u some sort of mass and the colonoscopy confirmed it was cancer so it is good yours was clear.

No matter which tests they use prior, colonoscopy is the gold standard because it allows them to actually visualise the colon with their own eyes. It's a huge positive that the CT scan was clear. A colonoscopy also allows them to see if anything else is going on that isn't cancer. Like haemorrhoids, tears etc.

The colonoscopy is the gold standard test to look inside your bowel. While it it is reassuring that the CT scan did not show anything worrying the colonoscopy is the most reliable way to see inside the bowel this is because there is a camera attached to it, so if something needs to be biopsied it can also be done using this scope.

I thought I would pop on and post as it’s been five months since Scared 23 last posted and you may not get a reply from them.

A colonoscopy (a camera to examine the bowel) looks at the bowel more closely to see if there are any abnormal areas and biopsies will be taken if they are.

I realise that waiting for tests is unsettling, as far as is possible try if you can not to dwell too much on what the colonoscopy might find and take things one step at a time.
