Pleurx drain for ascites

Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone has had experience of a permanent drain for ascites. Unfortunately, mine has built up extremely quickly over about 4 days. My team have suggested a pleurx drain so I can manage the ascites myself.

The other thing that worries me that after 9 weekly Taxol treatments, why suddenly now? I assume it's stopped working, which really scared me. I've had a CT scan and ca125 blood test, so I shall soon find out.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has been in, or going through a similar situation.

    We have some general information about PleurX drain on our website but if you have any other questions playing on your mind about this procedure do give our a cancer nurses a call next week.
