patty - lung cancer

Hi all

I was diagnosed in February this year with lung cancer.I was absolutely devastated, had only gone to the Docs with a pain in my arm.Its a lonely road with cancer I find even with family around you. You wake up from the shock and find yourself a member of an exclusive club no one wants to be in.

Was so relieved when the Consultant told me he could help me they planned to operate then follow up with chemotherapy. however, when the Surgeon viewed my results he decided the tumour was too embedded and it was too risky.

So I found myself at hospital for 7 weeks of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy came home in May. Was a bit gruelling but my daughter stayed with me the whole time thank goodness don't think I would be here without my children and grandaughter God bless them. since then I have had 2 follow-ups and things seem to be ok, next one due in December and I remain quietly optimistic.

  • Welcome to our forum, Patty and thank you for sharing your story with us, which I'm sure many will find reassuring to read.

I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with cancer back in February after having gone to the doctors for a pain in your arm, I can't begin to imagine what a shock this must have been. I'm glad though that you had your family with you as you went through treatment and that now things seem to be OK and you remain optimistic.

Do stop by anytime you feel up for a chat, Patty, or just to give us an update on how you're feeling, we'd love to hear more from you.

    All the best,
