Ovarian or cervical cancer?

Hi. I hope someone can give me some advice because I am in such a state.

7 years ago I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and even though the tumour was HUGE I was fortunate enough to only be at stage 1 and only needed surgery to remove the tumour.

Fast forward to the last 2 months, I have just felt odd! I have had severe bloating with such a heavy feeling in my pelvis, black, red and even pale stools, black foul smelling vaginal discharge and tonight I have had red vaginal discharge on the tissue when I wiped.

I had a smear in March and it came back that I was HPV positive but, at the same time I was also in touch with my oncologist who found a 4cm cyst on my ovary. He wasn't concerned and agreed to let my gynaecologist deal with it as, I also have endometriosis, he was absolutely useless and told me to go on the pill and sent me on my way.

I know deep down something isn't right and I had the same fight trying to get a diagnosis the first time around as they kept telling me I just had a water infection so, I took myself to A&E and told a white lie that I was in absolute agony with my pelvic area and they done an ultrasound that found a 22cm tumour!

I suppose, I just need reassurance that it is ok to do this again? With covid I don't want to put anymore strain on the hospitals but, I am so concerned I don't know where else to turn.

  • Sorry you're going through this. I'm shocked that you had to go to A&E to get the care you need but you were absolutely right to do so. Covid is not the only health condition, other health conditions still remain. Be assertive and remind yourself that you have just as much right to healthcare as a Covid patient. The rhetoric around Covid and not taking up hospital beds has been dreadful. My surgery to remove an ovarian cyst was postponed due to covid, only getting it tomorrow. I've been told it's probably benign but a biopsy will be taken post-op.
