Ovarian cancer with stomach and liver mets

Hi all, I just wondered if anyone has any answers. My sister in law had surgery 2018 for ovarian cancer, which appeared to be successful. Unfortunately she has recently been admitted to hospital and is seriously ill. The consultant has told my brother that she has Stomach and Liver spread, and also has blood Cancer. They did a liver biopsy and she is due a scan on Monday, which I’m assuming is only to confirm the spread. They have said the only treatment for her is steroids. I have advised my brother to take her home after the scan and let the community team look after her. I realise she is in the terminal phase of her disease, but wondered if anyone had any experience of time lines?, I know it’s the how long is a piece of string?. I myself have just been treated for Uterine Cancer and only required surgery. As you can imagine, this has really rattled me. My poor brother is in denial and thinks she’s going to be okay.

just a wee update: my lovely sister in law died this afternoon. It’s just heartbreaking.

  • I'm so sorry that your sister in law passed so soon after you wrote your post Jane. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you and your brother but I want you to know that our community are here for you and our thoughts are with you both at this time.

    Kind regards,
