Ovarian cancer CT scan results

Hi everyone,

Had my scan results today which showed only a slight progression in the cancer. The maintenance Avastin has obviously done a great job!

It's now time to go back on chemo to keep things under control. The new combination of chemo means I shouldn't loose my hair this time, which is great news!

I just wanted to share my news and encourage anyone who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  Although the future remains uncertain, I'm doing ok and feeling positive.

  • I'm so pleased you are staying so positive Jan. My partner Sue was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year and is now ok (of course touching wood as I say this), we are both big believers in knowing that the power of the mind and positivity goes a long way in healing the body! Our thoughts and positive vibes are with you xx
  • Thank you for your reply. Yes, I agree that positivity definitely goes a long way. I have had my bad days, but on the whole I have remained extremely positive and as fit and healthy as possible!

I'm so pleased that your partner is doing so well.. long may it continue!

  • Great news Velvet, as a fellow ovarian sufferer I know it's always nerve wracking waiting for those blooming blood and scan results!

    Keep up the good work!

    Hazel xx

  • Hi Hazel

Thank you! The waiting for results never gets any easier does it?

If you don't mind me asking, how is your treatment going?

    Jan xx

  • Hello Velvet, of course not.  I finished all my treatment in March 2016 with my final (I hope) chemo, and am now on 4 monthly checkups so am a lot further down the line than you.  I had my first diagnosis in 2012 followed by total hysterectomy and 6 chemos, then a recurrence in 2015 followed by a second op to remove new tumour and part of bowel, plus another 6 chemos.  Lost my hair the first time but like you had a different combination of chemo drugs the second time so wasn't a baldie that time.

Hope your forthcoming treatment goes well, Velvet, keep that good attitude!

    Sending hugs, Hazel xx

  • Thanks for your reply... You certainly have been through a lot of treatment!! I wasn't suitable for surgery, which at the time was disappointing, but at least I haven't had that to cope with.

I'm so pleased that you are doing so well.. long may that continue!

My next chemo should be starting in a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed I respond as well this time! Thank you for your good wishes.

    Jan xx
