Let's beat cancer sooner

Open tumour

16 Jul 2017 20:58

My wife has terminal cancer and has an open tumour on her stomach. The wound is dressed twice a day by the district nurses. The wound smells even after it has been dressed and my wife won't leave the house and has mentioned ending her life because of the odour. She has tried charcoal silver and honey dressings but they have not masked the smell. Does anyone know of any products to mask the smell ? I have tried aromatherapy oils on the dressing but it doesn't work. The house also smells as friends keep telling me !!

Hello Norman,

I am so sorry to hear about your wife's dilemma. I presume that the district nurses have run out of ideas to mask the odour? This must be very embarrassing for your wife.

It might be a good idea for you to contact the nurses on this site to see if they have any better suggestions. You can either contact them via the 'Ask the nurses' section or you can use their freephone number to speak to them directly.

They must have met with this problem before and may well have the solution.

I do hope so.

Kind regards,
