Not so good news

Hi everyone . haven't been on here much lately hoping everyone doing good .I have been to the hospital to see liver specialist and have MRI on liver .the April pet scan showed no tumour the may one showed it's grown back again 3.5  within 6 weeks so it's showing true colours still not operable probably never will be as sits on/next Vena Cava vein .so going back on chemo soon different one this time either folfox or something like that can't remember dais might lose hair this time so had quite bit think about .but again in waiting game for appointment

  • Hi tigercub ..

What a bummer ... this cancer is relentless in how crule it is ... and just wanna send a big hug ... and say thinking of you ... it's something we all have waiting on our shoulder ... so hold on in there ... wer all here rooting for you hunny ... others on here have pushed their diagnosis every day ... so here's hoping you do it too ... big hug ... Chrissie x

  • Hi thanks Chrissie

I just hope the hair dosnt go I can cope with most things with chemo but just don't want extra hassle of hair I know that's not most important thing but silly things get in your head . will settle once on chemo and something is happening .hope your wellx

  • I know how you feel ... l think we all would like to keep our hair ... that's the hope of a mirical treatment where we can keep it ... let's hope the research find that one day ...

I'm doing o.k ... still can't believe I'm here sometimes ... still remember that overwhelming feeling when he said grade 3 ... just wanted last year's summer holidays with my granddaughter... but here now looking at this year's summer hols with her too ...

I look at life differently now ... just plan up to 2 months ahead ... and look at every day as a gift ... so my hunny ... you hold on scream, yell , cuss at this crule cancer ... but don't you give up ... get those boxing gloves out the cupboard and don't be afraid to use them ... and know we all feel scared sometimes .. but wer all on this rollercoaster ride , right by your side ...  Chrissie

  • Hi thanks no I won't give in to it .also annoyed as can't get my state pension for another 5 years and I'm off work and sick pay has finished . probably won't return work I work for sainSainsbu and lots changes going on redudaredu etc but not at my level .could do with redundancy payment .are you working .

  • No , I'm havnt been able to work for couple of years now ... and I'm in same boat as if I'd been 6 months older I'd have got a pension at 60 ... now got to wait to nearly 66 ... it's been pushed back 3 times .. prob by the time I'm there it'll have gone up to 70 ...

But go down your local job centre and ask for appointment to assess if your due for help ... as cancer and treatment do count ... a lot depends on savings ... but write down all you've had and planned to have as treatment ... and don't give up ... you must get things ... McMillan have a free financial helpline ... I talked to them when I was diagnosed .. they go through everything and send you reliant forms to apply ...think they would be a good first point to do ...

So hold on and doing this may help you keep focused on other stuff ... a blessing in disguise ... so give them a ring tomoz if poss ... the sooner you start the sooner you'll have one less worry ... x

  • Think [@davek]‍ has helped others going through this on rights and stuff ... hopefully he may pick this up ..

  • Yes I've been in contact with McMillan a lot they helped me I get esa and some extra payment but had assessment for pip and didn't get anything stupid system .lot help is means tested do if you been careful n saved you don't get help same old stuff .McMillan filled all my forms in for me at hospital they were huge forms .than th for advice .

  • Hi tigercub, so sorry to b reading this. Totally get where u are coming from about your hair. When I was taken into the room and told it’s cancer my first question wasn’t- am I going to die it was- will I loose my hair! In reality what ever it takes for us  to live is the more important issue..., but still get your feelings cos they were mine too.

Im the same - 66 for my pension .. sigh. Wonder if u have a works pension - mine had a clause that if retired due to ill health it was made up to full normal pension age contributions (giving full pension). Mind u I took early retirement then was diagnosed a yr later so I missed out on this... sigh.

Sending hugs me dear ️ X

  • Hi thanks Sandra it's all bit surreal not quite bad as original diagnosis .but never sat in that office and had good news but sure it will come .I have work pension but not very big .but will probably will take whole lot and peprobab retire early just see how things pan out .are you well now xx

  • Yes I’m fine thanks. Last treatment was end of November onto annual recalls starting September. Like Chris says it sits on our shoulders just waiting to pounce again.

See if u can get some works pension advice - if it is made up u could potentially have it now at as high a payment u can have. No point in it sitting there unclaimed if you can have the best u can now.

You should still b able to go back to work after claiming if u wanted to... loads where I worked did this ( going part time). Def worth looking at.

Might want to make sure yr pay ran out first - mine would have been full pay first then half pay then statutory... if gonna do set in motion so get before statutory kicks in ... but get advice from your pension people :-) x
