Nightmare

Hi everyone - I'm a 70 year old freelance musician,(photo was on my 70th birthday last year), who has just been diagnosed with duodenal cancer, plus liver mets. I've been told treatment will be palliative as there's no cure. Next stop will be Oncology. Three months ago, I was fine. That's my ratherunhappy inroduction - so pleased I found this site x

  • Hi there heartsease, welcome to the forum, but of course, so sorry you find yourself here. I am older than you but what is the difference when we share a diagnosis of cancer that will take our life. My cancers are different than yours, but I do have several, mostly in my lung that are at present, most serious. It can be a very lonely journey that we're on here, so I hope you find some comfort in connecting with others here on the forum. People on here are very caring and supportive and it does help to alleviate the loneliness of being on this journey alone. Others with cancer do know what it feels like, so write on here about what is happening with you and it will reduce the weight of it to carry alone.

    Take care.

    Lorraine

  • Hi LorraineD - thanks for replying to my first post. You're so right - sharing is a therapy in itself - I remember being told 'a problem shared is a problem halved' when I was a child. At the moment I'm still waiting for an oncology appointment - let's hope they'll give a clearer picture x

  • Hi there. My husband has just been diagnosed - January- with duodenal cancer mets to the liver. He has just started chemo. We would be grateful for any info or words of wisdom you have to help us on the journey.
