  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Pauline19647.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been recently diagnosed with left vocal cord cancer.

I hope you will find our forum useful and get a chance to chat with others here who will share their experiences with you, but until then I thought you might want to have a look at this page from our website with information on cancer of the larynx (voicebox).

And if you feel like asking our friendly team of cancer nurses a question or two, you can reach them by ringing this number 0808 800 4040,  Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    I hope this helps.

Keep us posted as you go along, Pauline19647.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi Pauline

as sandy says welcome to the forum no one wants to come to

but your here and with your recent diagnosis you will find you are amongst fellow cancer patients ... who are now out the other side and can help you through the steps you now take

i myself am 3 years post treatment for throat cancer and doing well

so why don’t you tell us a little more about you and your journey .... this will let others on here know where you are in your process and in this way we can give you friend advice and tips on the stage you are going through at present

shout whenever you want to there is always someone on here and nothing is too minor or too silly to ask .... we don’t know all the answers but between us on here we know a lot ... so ask away

    so talk away

    Vatch

  • Hi Pauline, Very sorry you had to join our club, but we are all know what you are going through, and are here to support and encourage you all the way. I'm not a medic but understand that most vocal cord cancers are highly curable, so great grounds for optimism! You will get much more information about your cancer, of course, in the coming weeks. And you will get over the initial shock. I was diagnosed a little more than a year ago, and would never have believed that I would feel so sanguine a year later. I have been lucky, compared to some of the really vile cancers that we read about on this forum. And you, like me, have a great chance that you have been diagnosed at an early stage, will be quickly cured, and can start to put this nightmare behind you.  x Harry

  • Hi Pauline, my elderley mum was seen this morning by anENT Specialist who looked at her throat via inserting a flexible tube up her nose and down her throat, sadly he founf a lump which he suspects is cancerous, and so now the journey begins, unfortunately mum is 96 yrs old and has demention too so I hope they can do something for her.  We only found out today and it is really difficult to get youre head round this stuff,i am mums sole carer (no other family) to share this with, we have a meeting with all the hospital team next week to see what is best way forward:thenCT scan and biopsy date to be fixed, have you had these tests done already? be nice to keep in touch with you
