New Diagnosis- Metastic Carcinoma of Unknown Primary

Hi. I just wondered if anyone has been through or currently going through something  similar or the same. I've had the CT and PET scan and they can't find the primary, so its surgery on Wednesday. Hmm. I know  i'm looking at 1 - 5 yrs by all accounts, but I've not spoke to anyone similar? Thanks, Alex. (45yrs)

    Hi Alex,

I notice that this is your first post to the forum, so a very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It must be particulrly scary when you cannot find the primary source, but this happens to a lot of people. I am afraid that I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer, so know little about Metatastic Carcinoma of unknown primary. Have you tried using the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page? This will bring up previous posts on the subject, which you might find useful.

Hopefully, this will introduce you to people who have had a similar experience to yourself. I hope that your surgery goes well on Wednesday.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Alex.

I just wanted to stop by to share some information we have on our site about cancer of unknown primary (CUP).

As Jolamine says, it's a good idea to search the forum for other conversations to join in with, and to read about other's experience of CUP.

Wishing you all the best for your surgery tomorrow - do let us know how you get on if you feel able to.
