Need some reassurance/advice breast pain/lump

Hi, I've posted here already this last week or so, I went to the gp and she examined my breast and it was extremely painful when she pressed on it, she said she could feel a tube shaped thing and it was swollen, I was given antibiotics and after a week I was still in pain she re-examined me on Wednesday and it was still painful when she pressed however she said the swollen tube thing has halved it's size( I think she said it was a milk duct) I haven't got kids so it wasn't caused by breastfeeding etc. She has given me another week of antibiotics but also referred me to the breast clinic because I could feel a hard lump. She could too! But i can't remember if it's the tube like lump that is hard now the swelling has gone down or if it's a completely different lump she feels.

I'm 25 I know many people say I'm young for anything sinister but it's possible!
I have a breast clinic appointment on Thursday and I'm terrified! She wanted to get me in as soon as possible for my own reassurance.
Has anyone else had a similar experience to mine?

im trying to keep my mind busy but I'm just not so confident it's nothing this time round.

  • Hello Holliejx,

I am sorry to hear the antibiotics didn't work and I hope that they will now do the trick. It's good that the GP is being thorough and has referred you to the breast clinic and I hope that your appointment on Thursday will go well. It's good that you won't have to wait too long to be seen.

Information on what happens at the breast clinic can be found on this page from the Breast Cancer Now website. It's hard not to worry or anticipate the worst but you're doing the right thing in keeping your mind busy and staying well away from the temptation of looking things up online. It won't be long now until you find out more and I am keeping everything crossed for you for good results!

I hope that you will hear from others who have had a similar experience to yours and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
