Need ideas

My big sister has stage 4 cancer. She’s been aware of it for over a year now and the doctors have recently said she’ll be lucky to see November’s but won’t be here for Christmas. It’s been a hard pill to swallow tbh but it got me thinking of doing a mini bucket list. Like things I can do for her or with her without her having to leave the hospital (she’s moving home to be comfortable so might not be able to go out in her chair) but I was looking for ideas of things I can take to her like a pamper session, face masks nail varnish etc but other than that I’m stumped. Any ideas would be appropriated xxxx

  • Hi there ...

If I were you , I'd ask her ... maybe there's someone she'd like to see .. or make a memory book with photos if she has kids or grand kids ... or maybe she'd like those audio tapes that she could listen too .. but above all a hand to hold , even where no words are needed..

My sister's in late stage dementure ... and like to day when I went to see her, and she just slept on and off for two hours ... just being there .. they know ... and she is very lucky to have a caring sis like you ...

  • Hello there. I can understand your wish to "do" something. But reading your post made me a little worried. If you make a list, and don't have the chance to tick everything off...you may feel you failed, which of course won't be true.Perhaps I misunderstood, and you just want some ideas to have up your sleeve.

Having said that, one of my favourite things recently was a wonderful reflexology session. I'm not a pamper fan, don't even like having my hair cut. Somehow reflexology appealed. Wow, it was good. Really felt a benefit. My reflexologist offers home visits if needed, so others most likely will.

Not knowing your sister makes it hard to suggest things. Aromatherapy? Visit from a therapy dog?Maybe watching a favourite film together, or silly old cartoons. Listening to music.

Why not ask your sister what she'd like?

Best wishes for you both, and extended family, in the coming weeks.
