Need guidance and information .

Hello everyone .  I'm new here sorry if this post inappropriate as per forums rules.

My husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer and is under going his cancer treatment. He had his Surgury  few days ago and now having chemotherapy and after that radiotherapy.

I want to call up my mother to help me pass through in this tough time as I have a 5months old baby and I can't take him to hospital every time specially in emergencies  because of my husband health and chemotherapy after effects. I have no family here . And  honestly can't afford child care too in this situation.

Is there any way mother visa can be processd on early basis  rather than normall 6 to 8 weeks . My husbad chemotherapy is for 8 weeks and I want her to be with me .

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Rammy although I'm sorry to hear your husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

How did his surgery go a few days ago? I hope his recovery is going well and the chemo is going o.k. How long will he be having chemotherapy for before he moves on to radiotherapy?

I know you mentioned you have no family here at the moment but do you have any close friends that may be able to help you at this time? Or at least until your mum's visa comes through? Have you been able to get in touch with the UK Embassy to discuss this? If not, do try and get in touch with them as they will be in the best position to let you know if any extenuating circumstances such as your husband's would affect the speed of your mother's application.

Our cancer nurses may be able to point you in the right direction as well so if you would like to talk to them about this or just to find out what help may be available to you at this time do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. This number is free to call from a UK landline and is open between 9a.m - 5p.m, Monday - Friday.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Rammy,

I just wanted to check if you managed to get the information you needed about processing your mother's visa application?

I would suggest contacting Citizen's Advice if you need any support with making an application: 03444 111 444.

They have lots of useful information on their website about getting a visa for family to visit the UK, too: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/immigration/visas-family-and-friends/getting-a-visa-for-family-and-friends-to-visit-the-uk/

Wshing you and your family all the best,

    Helen
