Neck knee and elbow lumps

Howdy everyone,

I’m here as I don’t want to worry family and friend with this.

I went to my GP mid February with a pea sized firm round lump midway between chin and neck.  He referrred me for an ultrasound which is on April 12th.  No symptoms, although I have chronic fatigue syndrome and have always had bad fatigue and night sweats for years as part of that.

Over the time that I’ve been waiting for the ultrasound 6 lymph glands have appeared on my neck, two either side of my collarbone, one on each inner elbow and one behind my left knee.  All are firm, and kind of like a rubbery pebble.  Most seem to be about 2cm, though the one behind my knee is bigger.

Bloods also came back with a high CRP, but no other abnormalities.  When I told my GP about the lump party that is going on he just said to wait for the scan and we would talk after that.  His initial diagnosis was a cyst but in light of the other lumps he says that’s not a possibility now.

I’m not sure why I’m posting or what I’m looking for here, I’m not a natural worrier and refuse to go down the google route, but something is telling me that this is definitely not right.  Anyone in a similar situation?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Lilabelle and welcome to the forum.

I'm glad you made your doctor aware of the extra lumps although I'm sorry you have to wait until after the ultrasound results have come back to discuss this in more detail.

Many of our members know how tough it can be waiting for tests and you've definitely done the right thing by avoiding 'Dr.Google', which I'm sure our members will reassure you about soon.

I hope your appointment goes well and that the lump party doesn't turn out to be anything sinister.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Steph for your kind reply.

I’m feeling more frustrated than anything at the length of time from GP appointment to ultrasound - two months seems like it’s taking forever.  A week to go now and I’m just trying not to think about it but when I do I keep thinking of lymphoma.

I guess when you’re in the medical profession self-diagnosis is an occupational hazard.

  • Hi Lilabelle - I know this is a long shot as this is a very old post but I just wondered if you ever got to the bottom of the elbow nodes? I have them too and they seem to be quite rare so I’m just interested to see if you found out what was causing them and if they ever went down. I really hope your ultrasound was clear.
