  • Hi Lisa and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm sorry to read that your husband has been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer but it's great that treatment was available to him and I hope that the chemo he's having at the moment is going well.

Only your husband's medical team can really answer that so do sit down and have a chat with them when you can so you can ask them about this and any other questions that you may have playing on your mind at the moment. Our cancer nurses are also a phone call away if you'd like to have a general chat with them about your husband's diagnosis. They are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

I wanted to put you in touch with [@Angsal]‍ and [@Carolyn68]‍ as both of their sons had this type of cancer so will know have an idea of what you're going through at the moment and now that I've mentioned them in this post they'll hopefully pop by when they can to say hello and share their experiences with you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi lisa was just wondering what your experiences have been like, my hubby has just had his first cycle of chemo. Feel at a loss not sure what to do for the best for him. Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated x

  • Hi Deebo

Welcome to the site no one wants to find themselves on and sorry your husband has been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal ca. You have come to the right place for support and advice ir just a place to let off steam if you need it. We are a small gryiup if those diagnosed with head and neck cancers and tgeir loved ones and you will find some others will be along to say hello.

My hubby was diagnosed with tonsil cancer and lymph node tumours in Dec 2015 and although slightly different to nasopharyngeal the treatment is much the same. After 5 cycles of chemotherapy and 30 fractions of radiotherapy plus a neck dissection he has been in remission and cancer free for 2 1/2 years. The treatment is certainly arduous but we are here to prove it can be effective and there is life after cancer.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have and we’ll try to answer. Good luck and best wishes for the rest of your treatment and keep us posted as to how you’re getting on.

  • I apologise for the delay in getting back to you Deebo but I hope you'll forgive me when you find out that I've found another member whose husband has the same diagnosis as yours. Their name is [@Betbunhugo]‍ and hopefully they'll be along soon to offer their support and advice but you're more than welcome to chat with them on this discussion as well.

If you feel like you need to speak with someone in person then do give our cancer nurses a call next week. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope this helps Deebo and I wish you and your husband all the very best on this journey.

    Kind regards,
