Nasal cavity cancer?

I saw a dermatologist in March 2019 for a mole under my left arm that became very itchy, it then became shiny and began to shrink, from the time this began to two weeks later when I saw the dr the mole had more or less disappeared. The dr gave me e45 cream and reassured me that it did not look suspicious in nature. The mole has now completely disappeared. In April 2019 I was diagnosed with unilateral SNHL accompanied by hyperacousis and raging awful tinnitus that had just began.to this day the tinnitus is still present and has quickly ruined my everyday life despite trying my best not to pay attention to it. In may 2019 I was referred for physiotherapy as my neck became very painful. I guessed this was due to tight muscles because of the tinnitus in the right ear as the pain is in the right side of the neck. Quickly the neck pain progressed and I have burning pain at the base of the skull constantly. I have pain shooting around my head which quickly progressed to shooting nerve pain in my arms and legs. In September 2019 I started to have difficulty swallowing, stabbing pains in the throat along with congestion in one nostril, which I have had for many months and not really taken notice of. Because of this along with swollen glands in the neck I was referred to ENT but my appointment isn't until the end of November. So, I noticed yesterday that when I inhaled through my nose it really tickled..this happened a few times and last night I put the light on my phone and videod up my right nostril..quite far up there is a white bump against red background, the bump is shiny, round and has a few white lines beneath it. When I looked online I found info saying tumors of the nose can be described as red or even scabbed and aggressive looking. I'm wondering if anyone can help to make sense of any of this or if anyone has had such a bump that can be seen up the nostril. I'm trying not to be worried but I've had so many sinister symptoms in the past few months that aren't measurable by doctors and I've been fobbed off a fair bit. I can't believe I'm saying it but im a tad bit relieved that something visible has popped up. Although I'm praying it's not cancer, my gut has told me for months now that something isn't right. I am 29years old and have no previous health complaints until March this year.

  • Hi Zoe111. Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications.

This could well be a nasal polyp, which is harmless but a nuisance.  If you Google you'll find images on the web.

Your GP should be able to confirm.  If it is a polyp then I think the first line treatment is to use a steroid spray or drops to shrink it.

Please let us know how you get on. Your feedback helps us to improve our answers.

  • Hello telemando,

thankyou for replying to my post. I have looked for info on nasal polyps..this bump in my nose doesn't resemble them at all. I'm seeing the doctor on Tuesday so hoping he can shed some light. I understand there could be a million reasons for this along with everything else I've experienced of late

    kind regards

    zoe

  • Hi Zoe.

Good luck for Tuesday.  Keep us posted with developments.

  • I know you're worried about the nasal issue and your other symptoms, but I wouldn't get overly worried, and just get things ruled out by the specialists.

I have a long history of head, neck, bone and gastric issues which to this day remain only partially solved.

I was under the 2 week wait referral system for suspected head and neck cancer / Oesophageal cancer for about 9 months last year due to the following long term symptoms:

Pulsatile Tinnitus (12yrs), Tinnitus (12yrs), recurrent throat and sinus infections, Hyperacusis, Autophony, enlarged neck / Para Aortic and Para Oesophageal lymph nodes, Oesophagitis, Dysphagia (inability to swallow), Bone pain (collarbone, cervical spine C4-C5-C6, index finger after removsl of a Schwanoma).

I have been told that I'm free of any Lymphoma, head and neck cancer, bone cancer or gastric cancer. I've have so many MRIs, X rays, CTs, Vemp tests, swallow studies and Endoscopies that it would or should of picked up something by now that I now considered just a complex case of someone with multiple chronic conditions at the same time ...... It happens.

Just get the Dr to refer you to the appropriate specialist, and push for any test that might ease your worry.

Not every symptom is Cancer ...
