Please don't think you are wasting the GP's time - it's terrible that the receptionist laughed & I would be putting a complaint in if it was me.

I hope you get your GP phone call today - they may ask you to send photos of your nails so they can decide if it's something easily treatable or if you need a referral to dermatology where it can be checked fully. Subungual melanoma is quite rare & it usually only affects one nail so there is a very good chance that your nail problem isn't melanoma. That said, it definitely needs checking out so don't feel embarrassed about speaking to your GP.
