My experience

In mid October 2016 my GP arranged for me to have scans of my lower and upper bowels as I had not had a solid stool for several weeks. There was nothing in these scans to show any trouble BUT the upper level of the scan of my upper bowel did show a shadow on my left lung. After further scans and a CT biopsy this shadow was diagnosed as a cancer - the size of which is about the size of my thumbnail. It had not spread elsewhere.

I was referred to St Lake's Cancer Centre in Guildford, Surrey and therapy by way of SABR is about to commence. I have been advised that the lesion is "eminently curable".

I consider myself very fortunate that by pure chance my tumor was "caught in the bud"!

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Gordo.

It's great that the scan from your upper bowel was able to pick up the shadow in your lung and despite being diagnosed with cancer I'm glad to hear that it hasn't spread and that you've been given a good prognosis.

I see you mentioned that your treatment is about to start soon so I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we'll be thinking of you. Do come back and let us know how you are getting on if you can as I'm sure other members would love to know how your treatment goes and your experience may help others who are about to embark on their cancer journeys as well.

    Best wishes,
