My dad's recent diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme

Hey my name is Kacper I'm 17 years old and I live in Ireland today my dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme he had surgery before to remove the tumour but only now we got the results he is soon going to receive chemotherapy and radiotherapy and also receive dome sort of tablets I look online and I read these horrible things I don't know what to do and I have basically nobody to talk to about this which makes it much more difficult my dad is 63 years old and I prayed everyday for things to get better I still do I'm not sure if this is the right place to say all of this but it's better than posting it on social media and to those who bothered reading this thank for at least caring enough to read this.

  • Hi Kacper,

I am so sorry to hear that your dad is unwell. My Dad also has the same diagnosis. He was completely well until March this year. After his surgery he got an infection and spent 8 weeks in hospital so all treatment was cancelled as he was not strong enough.

He is now in a nursing home and I visit everyday and try to keep him smiling. I am a 47 year old Daddy’s girl!

You must be feeling so scared and like you I have read so much on the internet.

Try to talk to the nurses. They know the facts and should be able to offer you some support.

I am here whenever you want to chat.

Be strong for your dad but take care of yourself too

    Karen x

  • I'm sorry to hear that your dad is also affected by this disease I'm really hoping for people to live much longer than they did when they were diagnosed ten years ago and I hope we find a cure or method of therapy that will help people all over the world especially how common it is and thank you for the support and I really hope your dad gets much better.

    Best of luck

    Kacper

  • keep praying do not give up be positve where there is life there is hope x

  • Hi Kacperw and Daddysgirl47,

I’m so sorry your dad is unwell it can be such a shock I know as my husband was diagnosed may’18 wIth stage 4 at 36 years old we have 2 small children 8 and 6. I too read all the scary things online but it’s true don’t believe everything you read online as it affect people differently. I try to stay positive as best I can and have a good cry when no ones around.

Here if you need someone to talk too.
