My Big Sister - colon cancer spread to liver

My sister has been diagnosed with colon cancer that's gone to her liver. She has had 2 lots of chemotherapy 1st lot 25% then 100% now after a couple of weeks later her consultant has decided to stop the chemotherapy as it will excelerate the illness. They also have taken her line out. He has now given her steroids for the next 4 weeks to help her appetite. Then things will be reviewed when she is stronger ? She is 71 years old what does this all mean.

  • Hello LT- and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear about your sister, that her colon cancer has spread to her liver and that they have had to stop her chemotherapy treatment. I hope that the steroids will help her with her appetite. Hopefully she won't have to wait too long to find out more and for things to be reviewed. If you'd like to talk to our nurses about this, you are welcome to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Thinking of you and your sister during this difficult time and I hope that you get some answers soon. Hopefully you will hear from others who have been in a similar place before and I hope they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
