Mums lung cancer

My mum finished her treatment for lung cancer 2 weeks ago and is really struggling.she is not eating because of pain in the middle of her chest and know painkiller is taking this away I'm so worried about her I don't know what to do xxx

  • My hubby has lung cancer and wasn't eating.  He was given protein shakes and I just gave him what food he fancied.  The trouble is they get into the habit of not eating.   Try and break this habit with tough love, she has come this far and needs to get back on track, point this out to her. Good luck

  • I have no appetite from time to time as well as an inability to eat most foods because of altered taste.

Soup, even a spoonful or two, often; ensure drinks if possible. Add extra as soon as.

I read the other day that cachexia, malnutrition/weight loss, kills 40-60% of cancer sufferers, rather than the cancer itself. I don't know how true it is but I think I'd be stupid to die of it when I've got the cancer in remission at present.

    I eat little and often.
