Mum’s breast cancer

So my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last October, since then she’s had the lump removed as well as some lymph nodes. After surgery my mum went back to work too soon. She developed an abscess in her breast which burst. She’s had lots of fluid on her stomach which she needs to get drained frequently. Now that she’s had the lump removed, the doctors have said that they have got all the cancer (nothing found in lymph nodes either) and it’s up to her to have radiotherapy. She decided against it.

So from December to now she’s been taking a variety of drugs. The main reason I’m posting on here is because she has really changed. She’s forgetful, not sleeping or hardly eating. I’m really worried about this. It’s almost like she’s reverted back to being a child, unable to rationalise things and being increasingly Irritable. Can anyone advise as to whether these are all side effects from the drugs. I’m not sure what I can do to help her and support my dad.

  • Hi, sorry to read about your mums predicament. It may well be her meds, I do know letrozole and anastrozole can cause depression ( I'm yet to start these) I think a trip to the GP would be a good idea, do you think she go? How does your father feel about the change in her?
