Mum has advanced kidney cancer.

22 Aug 2016 15:00

Hi,

just an update to everyone that has been following the post regarding mum. Unfortunately it isn't great news. Her cancer has spread to the lungs and due to her having heart problems treatment wouldn't make much difference. The good news of all this, if there is any, is that her cancer isn't causing too many problem yet.

It has been a very stressful few days, but at least we know what's going to happen and what to expect.

if anyone has any advice or anything that they would recommend please message.

Hi Leeann,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I'm glad to hear that her cancer isn't causeing her too many problems and hopefully she is as comfortable as she can be. My dad was recently diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. If you ever need to chat, please feel free to message me!

I can't really say I have any advice, we've just been trynig to take each day as it comes, and not to think too much into the future. It really upsets me if I think about the possibility of my dad not being able to see me graduate from university, married, and kids. But I'm trying to stay positive. I'm sending positive thoughts your way!!

Thank you so much for your reply!. I will try and find away to add you, then we can message each other. I know it is very upsetting but as the days are getting it is getting a bit more realistic. I found that researching and reading about my mum cancer helped me understand, as unfortunately she cant undergo a biopsy, doctors felt it would cause more worry for nothing, as the bottom line is, there is nothing they can do. I've been engaged for over a year now and we were planing on having our wedding in 2018, however things are a bit different now, we've discussed about maybe having our wedding next year, if we have the money to. Luckily I have an incredible man that understands why I want to bring it forward. I said its bad enough my dad not being there, but for my mum not to be, really upsets me. I also want to make sure she is also well to enjoy the day and celebration. I am deeply sorry to hear about your dad, you must be really hurting, and my thoughts go out to you. Did your dad have biopsy etc? How did he go with treatment, or should I say has he had treatment? Do you have your mum? Or any other siblings?. We both have to think of the positives, which believe me it is very hard to do so..... Cancer is one big *****.... I will not let it take over what time my mum has. Well at least we can try. I hope to hear back.. Sending you hugs.

Hi Leeann87,

I am sorry that I didn't reply to your previous message. I completely missed it!! I have sent you a friend request.

When my dad was diagnosed in 2016, he wasn't able to get a biopsy because the cancer was too far gone, and they said it would hurt him more than it would help him. I found that I did a lot of research in the beginning, but I am now just trying to take things as they come as I ealize now that every person and body is different when it comes to fighting cancer.

I am happy to say that my dad is still doing very well, and he is still healhty, well ashealthy as you can be in his situation. It'll be three years since he was diagnosed on June 22.

How did your wedding work out? Was your mom able to make it to your wedding? How is she doing now? Feel free to send me a message on here, and we can chat some more. I have my mom, sister, and my dad, and we are all quite close to one anotehr, so it makes it easier to have each other to lean on. My dad is on treatment right now, as he can't be cured, but he is doing really well. Doctors are pleased with how he is doing.

Hopefully we can chat soon, and I hope your mom is doing okay. Feel free to message me back here, or send me a message. I'm not on here very much anymore, but I do get emails occasionally.

Take care.
