Mum diagnosed with both bladder and kidney cancer

Hi everyone, I'm new here as I have a question - my mum, after 18 months of being treated for interstitial cystitis was diagnosed on friday (after a cystoscopy and CT) with a bladder tumour and a kidney tumour. The consultant told us it is very unusual because both the sites are primary sites, one hasn't spread to the other.

She also possibly has a couple of lung nodules but they are not sure yet if these are mets as the kidney tumour is only 4cm. She doesn't get her histology back for a couple of days, but I just wondered if anyone had heard of this or experienced it? She's a fit 68 year old non-smoker and there's no family history of any cancer in her family (the consultant said she was wondering if it could be genetic). Thank you!! :)

  • Hi

    Welcome to the forum.

I had the problem just getting antibiotics for bladder infection for about 3 yrs.

Then I took a urine sample with me when going for usual diobetic check up.

Boy then things started moving sent within 2 days for cystoscopy & kept in hospital for a week with kidney infection.

It was confirmed bladder tumour & mets.

I refused treatment after op to remove tumour was canceled 3 times by hospital.

Now 2 yrs on only have pain relief, still the same kidney infections re-occuring with high tempreture.

this might not help you but wish your mum best of luckx
