Mrs

Hi my mum went into hospital recently for sepsis in her foot as she is diabetic and ended up being diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to the adrenal glands we haven't seen anyone from the cancer team and are waiting to see someone from the MDT team not sure when this will happen she had the vascular team see her and said the blood flow too her foot wasn't good and she may need an stent put in but when they saw the CT scan of lungs will not do it now.  Shes home now and we have been left in limbo unsure of what's happening now it's like they have just given up on her ?

  • Hi, so sorry to hear about your mum. It must’ve been a big shock.

Im wondering if you were introduced to a CNS (specialist nurse) whilst your mum was in hospital? She/he would be your point of contact regarding the next step. If not, could you give the ward a ring and ask for advice? It sounds like an MDT needs to happen in order to proceed with options/treatment. This can often take a week or two, which is obviously a very anxious time for your mum and family - but you should at least have an idea of what is happening during the (apparent) silence.

Do keep chasing it up. I’m sure your mum hadn’t been forgotten, however sometimes the admin needs a firm prodding.

Wishing you all the best. I’m currently dealing with my mum’s recent pancreatic stage 4 diagnosis. It’s a struggle and was also a shock.

I guess we have to just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

    lots of love xxx J
