MRI Results and Consultants

I have been waiting quite a long time since my MRI for results due to hospital delays - which I found out via pals, well over the 62 day wait now. I spoke with the secretary of my consultant via email earlier this week ( Tuesday ) and she had said it had finally been reported on and had been given to a consultant. However, I have clocked that it's not the consultant I initially saw. Is that common, I would have thought you would stick with the same consultant throughout the process? I have absolutely no idea what the results are currently I had my scan back in APRIL! so have been living with the stress in the back of my mind. Also work in the cancer space reviewing content so find it quite a lot mentally. Any guidance regarding the consultant.

The day the results were given to the consultant is the day of the Mdt but I don't know if they were reviewed then and there. Secretary only works Mon Tue and Fri. So hopefully something tomorrow who knows.

  • Hello luckyleft1

I'm sorry to hear that you've been waiting so long for your MRI results. It's understandable that this will have been an anxious time for you.

It's not uncommon for Consultants to work in teams and if the Dr that you initially saw is away or on leave it may well be the case that your results have been given to another Consultant to review and take to the next available MDT. Try not to worry too much about this information.

Hopefully, your results will be reviewed by the MDT soon and you will have some answers before too long.

    Best wishes,
