Mole removal....awaiting results!

Hi.

This morning I had a mole removed, procedure was better than I was expecting and took a lot less time than I was expecting. Now I've just got myself all worked and anxious thinking the worst!

When my mole was checked by the doctor in dermatology the week before my removal she said it looked like it had some trauma and asked if I had knocked it or caught it. I asked if she thought it was anything bad but she didn't seen to think so and said she's been surprised if it came back as back.

But on reading the form after the removal there is a section regarding reason for removal states 'diagnosis'...now I'm thinking it's cause they suspect melanoma.

Just feeling so anxious

  • Hi,

I can understand your worry whilst waiting for your results. Try not to worry about the wording on the form. The reason for removal 'diagnosis' is the standard answer to the question for this type of surgery - to diagnose if it's benign, malignant or precancerous.

There is a good chance your mole will be fine so try to distract yourself now as you wait for the results. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)
