Mole

my mole on my arm is raised,scabby/crusty and sometimes itches,I've only noticed the scabbing/crusting this past week and it's definitely doesn't resemble the mole I once had there!? If that makes sense.

I'm a little worried.

  • Hi Emma,

I'm afraid the forum doesn't allow photos as per it's terms and conditions. This is because no one on here, not even the nurses, can identify whether your mole is suspicious. If it's changed then you must contact your GP. They may ask you to send them a photo of they aren't yet doing face to face appointments. They will either decide if it needs a referral to a dermatologist or they may send the photo to dermatology for an expert to check it out and decide if they want to see you.

75% of patients referred to dermatology get a clean bill of health whilst 20% are diagnosed with a dysplastic (precancerous) mole. Therefore only 5% of suspicious moles are found to be malignant but any suspicious mole should be checked out.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
