My mum has only a few days to live ... She doesn't want to eat or drink .. Is there anything I can give her to tempt her? Any ideas welcome, desperate xx
Sorry about your mum. It may be the case she just can't eat. In my Nan's last weeks she was given Complan or something similar, but that's hardly tempting! She did like a chocolate button every now and then but did go off food in the main. Unfortunately I think its one of those things.
My Dad died of pancreatic cancer. A few days before he died, he didn't want to eat or drink. You can try and get her to eat or drink but I wouldn't push too hard if she refuses to do it. I think this is part of the advanced stages of the disease and its part of the dying process. I am not a physician, but my comments are based upon my experience with my Dad. I have read that offering ice chips may be a good alternative. I am very sorry about your circumstances.
I hope I'm not too late but in my mum's last couple of weeks we gave her ice pops (like the Mr Freeze ones you had as a kid), easy to suck and gave her a little bit of sugar as least!
