Micropapillary urothelial carcinoma

husband has had R/C staging T3b N2. What an upheaval in life this diagnosis is & what a bumpy, rocky road we are on, going from feeling hopeful to being told by surgeon on follow up consult 5 months after surgery "chemo won't help it will be all through your body within 2 years just enjoy your life" Well how do we do that, not ready to give up without a fight. Husband is 67 years old & we come from "the land down under" so guess we are in the fight of our life. What is worse the surgeon never even looked at his I/C work to see if it is healthy or pat himself on the back at the job he did, no Dr Negative just sent us on our way "bye bye"

  • Hello glomax,

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the news that your husband has been given.

It sounds as if your recent appointment was a shock to you both and not what you were expecting to hear. Understandable that you feel like you have the fight of your life on your hands.

I wonder if your husband has been allocated a specialist nurse that you can talk to about his results, the surgery and the subsequent appointment. It may be that they are able to help with some of the unanswered questions that you have. You may also want to consider if you wish to pursue a second opinion.

We do have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research UK that you can talk to. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Sending our best wishes to you both,
