i have been diagnosed with Merkel cell carcinoma on my finger. The specialist advises that the only effective treatment is amputation of the finger to ensure the tumour is removed. This seems drastic, is there an alternative?
I'm not a doctor and before today I'd never heard of this cancer. According to Wikipedia, it is rare and aggressive - a most unpleasant combination.
I can't possibly advise you on the best course of treatment; however, you can ask for a second opinion and there is also a specialist web site for the disease.
I'm sorry I can't be any more help, but maybe a fellow forum member will have some more suggestions.
