Mastectomy no support

I had a mastectomy 9 weeks ago scary operation and on going reconstruction. I feel i have had no support from anyone and feeling fed up with myself now.

  • Hi Mingmong.

There are lots of people on here who are either dealing with the same kind of things that you are, have been through it and come out the other side or have found ways to deal with to with everything that comes with Cancer.

I'm in the very early stage of this and just finding my way through, mostly trial and error. You find what works for you and go with it. Unfortunately it can feel quite a lonely experience but you aren't alone. Everyone one on this site is dealing with Cancer in one way or another.

  • I know there are a huge amount of people worse off thsn me and i am gratefull for the surgeons and nurses but i have had no after care at all and feel blind x

  • I've had nothing either since I had my surgery (lumpectomy) so not as radical as yours. I ended up calling the macmillan nurse at the hospital  to ask some really basic questions about do's and don'ts, deodorant usage for instance.

Got sent home with three leaflets and without that phone call that would have been it until my next consultant appointment on 29 August, 4 weeks after surgery. It seems pretty poor across the board really, I thought it was just where I live.
