Mammogram findings

I am 61 never had any breast problems or abnormal mammograms.

Hi I was wondering if anyone has similar experience to me?

I had my regular 3 year Mammogram on 1 Dec I was called to go for an assessment on 21st Dec where I had more images taken. I saw the Dr who didn't seem too worried at all she examined my right breast then used the ultrasound and said its fine and I would get a letter and return to my 3 year check ups.

On 8th Jan I had a call saying they had discussed my images and would like me to come back for more. I attended the clinic yesterday and had more images ultrasound and even though she thought everything was fine I had a core biopsy on my right side and a marker clip put in . I keep thinking if its ok why did I have the biopsy. I have to wait 2 weeks for results I'm realy worried haven't felt anything in my breasts.

    Hi Katkins61,

A Very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your 2 recalls and the worry that these are causing you. This usually happens when a more senior member of staff has examined your results and thinks that there could be something sinister. The only way to be certain is to see what your biopsy results are.

Although you may not feel that this is the case at present, it is possibly just as well that some sharp-eyed individual has spotted something now and you can do something about it. Not all of these recalls end in a cancer diagnosis. There are many on this site who have reported good results despite all of the additional tests.

Try to keep yourself busy over the next couple of weeks to help the time to pass. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for your reply. I will keep myself as busy as I can.

  • Hi its Grade 2 Invasive Ductal Cancer I can't have a mastectomy or chemo as I have Severe COPD and pulmonary aspergillosis in my lungs. I might be able to have a TARGIT-IORT and lumpectomy if the anaesthetist will agree to give me general anaesthetic. They have to contact my lung consultants to see what can work . My week was going so well we have just learnt how to do home IV's for my lung condition I have them for fungal condition on a twelve week cycle.
Well here we go another mountain to climb. Ive got this. ...... I think

    Hi Katkins,

I am so sorry to hear about your lung complications. Here's hoping that your lung consultant and your anaesthetist can work out a safe solution between the two of them.

I have problems with all anaesthetics, having previously stopped breathing on the operating table. This means that every general anaesthetic is fraught with additional problems, so I appreciate your concerns.

    Kind regards,
