Lymph Nodes, HPV + & Moderate Dyskaryosis

Hi Everyone....

I've had an odd few weeks!
I've been lurking around these forums as I had been feeling generally unwell, fatigued, regular low (mildly) neutrophil counts and then found a sore swelling in my armpit. On further investigation, I found a  hard fixed lump in my groin which immediately worries me, but having just been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis, I figured it was probably that, but was referred to haematology.

In the midst of these things, I had my routine smear- then I got the post on Thursday, along with my haematology referral letter I got another which informed me I am HPV + & also have high grade dyskaryosis.
Then today I am spotting bright red blood.

I really don't know what to think! I saw the Haematologist this morning who confirmed the hard lump, and has taken a lot of bloods & referred me on for a scan in a week or so. She was lovely and said it could be any number of things but I am just so shaken by the cervical screening letter.
This morning I got an appointment for Colposcopy this coming Wednesday.

i think if it was one or the other, I wouldn't be so worried.

If you got this far- thank you for reading, I feel like I needed to just get this out somewhere!

  • Welcome to our forum Crazybirdlady,

Poor you, you have had a crazy few weeks. I hope that the haematology issue turns out to be nothing of concern. Try not to worry too much about your HPV and high grade dyskaryosis letter and it might be that this is totally unrelated to the haematology issue - it is treatable and you can read more about it in our treatment for abnormal cervical cells page. It might be worth ringing your GP and explaining that today you noticed you were spotting bright red blood.

There was another lady recently who was just as worried as you are about the HPV and abnormal cells results and I thought it might be a good idea for you to chat to one another. She is also waiting to have a colposcopy and you can read her story on this page. Don't hesitate to respond to her if you wish to do so. It does help to talk to someone else who is in a similar boat.

Best of luck with both your haematology results and your colposcopy. I am keeping everything crossed for you!

    Best wishes,
