Lymph node biopsy

Having been told Monday I had early stages of breast cancer I was sent for an ultra sound of under my armpits due to how high the area is they are looking at .. they found a lymph node swollen so did an on the spot biopsy .. this was scary as seemed to make it sound more serious .. the results come back when I am on holiday .. can’t decide if to get them when away or wait until i meet the the consultant on the 8th .. I have surgery booked for the 20th August

Hi AMP257,

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to read about the news that brings you here.

I can understand that it's a difficult decision to make about phoning for your results. It's quite a personal choice and I guess that many of us would have widely differing opinions on it. Either way you know that you've your surgery date booked for August.

I'm going to tag in @Chriss ‍ and @Marlyn ‍ who are a couple of our regular ladies here that have been through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. They may be able to share their experiences with you and offer some reassurance.

I hope that you are able to enjoy your holiday and not worry too much about what's planned for next month.

Best wishes,

I suppose different health care providers have different protocols, mine would not give me my results over the phone, she said they were pretty strict with this. So, if I were you I would go on holiday ( where you going)? And then see what's what on the 8th, I'm glad you already have a date for surgery....for me that was the most important thing, getting the gremlin out!

Your not alone love....xx

I am going to Sorrento for a week with 3 children on my own ! Will be a challenge but hopefully fun . Rhetoric told me today the 20th is provisional as they have to wait to see what the MRI shows .. so on the they will have a range of information to consider and fingers crossed the 20th . It’s possible I could need a further investigation of some kind but I was told hopefully it’s the 20th .. I have options around the op but it seems they could change on the 8th

Oh my, how old are your children? Sounds exhausting....but fun!

I have everything crossed that you will get your op on the 20th...but this is certainly a rollercoaster!! And I expect there will be some twists and turns along the way...there usually is...keep popping on the forum...there's always support here xx

Hi there amp ...

Well, I'd deff go on that holiday .. you will be kept busy, and trust me .... that's just what you need right now ... the worst bit for me was waiting for things to start ... it's the unknown that's so scary ...

I had a grade 3 breast cancer...and masectomy in July 2017 ...  and the trouble is we all think worse case sinarios in those early days ..

But there's lots of us breast lasses on here... all different stages and treatments... but those that came on with me or just after are still here .. l think if you get feelings out ... scream ... yell .... cuss at this cancer ... but after you get it out, get ready to look it in the eye ... and take it on ... coz cancer wants us weak ... well it's got another thing comming... wer all here kicking it's ass ...

So join our little club .. together wer strong ... Chrissie xx

Hi Chrissie.. thanks for your message and keeping busy clearly helps a lot .. it’s so informative and supportive to hear of others journeys at different stages . I feel I have joined a new world and feel embarrassed how little I knew before .. it’s made me see life through new eyes and bizarrely there is also something enlightening about that ..I realise I need to enjoy and maximise this holiday .. i just printed off my boarding passes and sorted my amended insurance .. it should’ve a good mix of a chamfer of scene being busy and relaxing if I need it too .. I hope things are ok for you .. sounds like you went through a lot with a masectomy .. i realise I need to keep positive as well as have an open mind about my journey witj a lot of unknowns at this point .
