Lump removal

Hello everyone . Iv recently had surgery to remove the lump and some lymph nodes.  I was under the impression that I would just be having radiotherapy at some stage after . But while in hospital I was told that my cancer is a Grade 3 invasive ductal carcinomia and I now need a ct scan and possibly chemo aswell as radiotherapy.  I get the results from my surgery on the 3rd of Oct . I'm really worried . Just wondered if anyone could share their experiences  with me .

  • Hiya! Im guessing breast cancer. I’ve not long been diagnosed and yet to have my lumpectomy. What stage did they tell you before? I’ve not been through it yet so can’t put you at ease but you know what? You’re in the right hands. You’ve got a plan in action and as scary as it all sounds it’s to make you better. If you ever need a chat or to vent then feel free to message. My surgery is the 30th of this month (2 weeks today).

I do hope you’re healing ok after surgery xx

  • Hi ladies

Your story is the same as mine, i had my lumpectomy and 2  nodes removed for testing, 1 came back with cancer. I can only presume they will be looking for clear margins around the tumour and will test your nodes too . The doctors are brilliant and will look after you just fine. My margins were not clear so had to have another sweep as they call it. This may not be the case for you, i was just unlucky. However, i got clear margins the second time and was told my cancer was gone. It was also a grade 3. As they told me my cancer was gone i never expected to be told i would need chemo and radiotherapy but seemimgly because it was in a node i would need treatment as a preventative measure of the cancer coming back. i had a ct scan prior to surgery.I think the hosp i attend automatically do this just to check everything is ok. I found the stage your at to be the most stressful time.I found this to be the hardest part of my journey so far. You will get through this stage soon and onwards to the next step. Take care and wishing you all the best xx
