Lump on areola and armpit

Hi everyone,

I don't know where to start.I felt a lump on my right breast areola and under my right armpit.

I went to breast clinic in Dec 2020 and had mammogram,  scan etc they were only concerned about my nipple. They did a needle biopsy,  everything on the same day.

Time went by, 8 months.

Then I received a call Tuesday 24th August  asking if I was OK.

They said they had mislaid my paperwork and realised I hadn't been back to clinic.

I had to go the morning after.

On arrival I saw my consultant,  he was so so nice, he did another scan and said the lump on areola looks suspicious and I am down for surgery Friday 3rd Sept

I am worried as it could be cancer? Any advice please? They left me 8 months doc said it had grown and looks suspicious and he needs to remove it and send for biopsy? I asked about the needle biopsy bit my mind went blank I don't know what he said.

I am so worried xxx

  • Hello Twin33,

It can be difficult to take in what the doctor says sometimes, so it might be helpful to take a notebook to appointments so you always have notes on what was discussed. If you have any specific questions about the surgery, don't be afraid to contact your doctor again. This is also information here on the common tests to diagnose.

    I hope this is useful,
