Lump in Bicep

Hi All

I'm in a bit of a quandary wondering what to do.

I have a lump in my bicep I've already been for an ultrasound and biopsy and I'm waiting for the results. This was 2 weeks ago but it was to be discussed at a meeting last Tuesday the 27th April. I can see the lab report on my patiant access file but it isn't obvious what it actually is although it does refer to low grade fibrous tumour (spindle cell). The doctor said this could mean it to be abmormal as opposed to cancer but is leaving it to the specialist to discuss.

The letter/ call could be another week yet as I'm not even sure the process. In the meantime since the biopsy I have a small swelling in my armpit and today I am noticing aching in my shoulder and fore arm and a bit of numbness down my arm to my hand.

If I ring the doctor I'm not sure they can do anything as it is being dealt with by the hospital. I don't have anyone specific to ring at the hospital. Do I just need to wait for the results unless it gets worse. Could it just be anxiety?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm not sure if you were given a timeframe within which to expect results - if you had your biopsy over two weeks ago then usually you would have heard something by now. If you feel it's been a while, and if you have any new concerns, you could give the hospital a call to check. You can either try the department you visited, or perhaps the switchboard.

    Otherwise, hopefully you'll hear back from them soon. The waiting is never easy so do try to keep yourself busy and focused on things you enjoy while waiting where possible.

    Thanks for taking the time to reply I can see it is very busy on here. It's nice to be able to come and jot down thoughts, at least then it's out of my head.

    I didn't really ask the process when I had the biopsy I just knew it was being discussed at the meeting. I tried ringing the hospital but that was only the imaging center not the people dealng with it.

    In the end I found a really usefull website for the Sarcoma team in my area which detailed the process and had a contact who I have spoken to and that has made me feel much better. The process has slightly changed as my biopsy needs to go for further tests but fingers crossed could be benign. I also have an appointment with a doctor regarding the swelling so now I will try not to worry so much.
