It's normal to be worried at the moment and to be wondering what is causing this sudden weight loss, but you've done the right thing in going to see the GP. It sounds like your doctor is being thorough and it won't be long now until you have the tests and find out what is causing all these symptoms. There are so many conditions that can cause similar symptoms so try not to worry too much while you are waiting to get a proper diagnosis. I know it's easier said than done, and perhaps you are already doing this but the best thing to do at the moment is to stay away from Google and resist the urge to research your symptoms as this often causes unnecessary worry.

It can also be tempting when losing weight to go on the scales every day to find out whether you have lost any more weight but try if possible not to do it too much as it may exacerbate your anxiety as well.

Hello Theresa,

there are many possible reasons to cause unexplained weight loss. Among others, remind your GP to check also celiac disease! The fact that you have also loose stools gives an added likelihood of celiac disease! However as I said, there is a bunch of causes that the GP should be able to investigate systematically.
